Apparently if I tweet something, it might actually happen, especially if people like it - so thanks to the 8 of you who liked this tweet (I realize this may sound sarcastic to some, but I assure you it is not as it is rare a tweet of mine that receives 8 likes)! Note to self: consider tweeting other positive activities to hold myself accountable (e.g., exercise).
Goal for the week: Write a blog post. I am determined to get back to my old hobby now that I have the time.

Speaking of exercise, blogging is just like working out: it requires consistency and the longer you go without doing it, the harder it is to begin again. It has been eons since my days of consistent blogging. This blog used to be my first response when someone inquired about my hobbies. Yet, somehow life changed. I moved to Munich and my carefree, on-a-whim life in Germany became all but a distant memory. I started my master's degree, then began working alongside my studies and when that wasn't enough, I began an add-on study program. Basically, some crap happened and keeping busy was by far the best medicine.
Rest assured though, I am still in Munich alive and kickin' and here are some very German photos to prove it.

As time does its thing, flying by faster and faster as one grows older as one gets older, here I am finished with the coursework for my master's degree and my add-on honors degree program, working full-time in a job that is a perfect first step in my career, writing this blog post in my new apartment and trying to figure out what to do with all this free time I suddenly have in my calendar.
It is funny how starting my full-time job allows for more free time than I had before, but alas it is true. I am in discovery mode at the moment - investigating various ways to spend my evenings and weekends now that they are perpetually available. There were a couple obvious fillers here: 1) dating - because I am single AF - and 2) blogging - because it a provides a creative outlet and an engaging community. There is still a Number 3 missing, but hopefully some more time, soul searching, and let's get real, Googling, will help me find the missing piece. Without getting too political on the blog, I am pretty devastated by the outcome of the Presidential election in my homeland, so maybe this is a starting point of action. By the way, the word for campaign in German is Wahlkampf, which can literally translate to choice struggle; if this doesn't sum up the election then I don't know what does.
My list of things to blog about is long. Actually, there are several lists scattered about the many apps I use to organize my life (e.g., Notepad, Evernote, Trello, Wunderlist, Bear), but today wasn't about covering a single topic, it was about writing again. If I managed to write a decent length blog post without really saying anything today, surely I can say something in the future.

Welcome back bloggy-blog. Found this through insta-gram & the cocktail party interview photo. Anyway so happy for, & proud of, you. Don't ever let anyone steal your joy, sense of adventure, curious nature & thirst for knowledge. You have made a life for yourself for which you can, & should be proud. Love, Daddio.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I'm struggling to find my blogging inspiration these days too. Even though I haven't been away from it as long as you have (my posts have just been farther apart then usual) I know what you mean about it being harder to start again the longer the break in blogging has been. I look forward to reading what you write in the future!

Welcome back! I missed your posts. "Wahlkampf" seems appropriate; I have been pretty upset over here, too.
ReplyDeleteAlex!! so good to hear from you!!!
ReplyDeleteMost definitely happy to see that you are writing your blog again. Welcome back.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have busy with so many exciting things going on! Can't wait to read more about your adventures. And blogging with work and school, ya I am quickly finding that is nearly impossible!
ReplyDeleteHooray, glad to see you back! I've had the opposite happen in my new job (and city... and role as a mommy-to-be), but I agree - you really have to work at it and stay consistent!
ReplyDeleteHello! I was actually thinking about your blog the other day. I hope that you keep it up!
ReplyDeleteAlex! You're back! Glad Munich is still treating you well.
ReplyDeleteSingle? Oh no! I hope it was an amicable split.

ReplyDeleteGlad you are back Alex! I really enjoy your blogs.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Alex! I always enjoy your bloggery.
ReplyDeleteIt's difficult to get back into the swing of regular blogging when your life changes up and you have less time. It's been the same for me- I didn't post at all in October. I joined up with one of the many "blog every day in November" challenges to try to break out of my rut. Good luck!
Welcome back! And high five for team single AF!
ReplyDeleteThanks lady! I am still trying to integrate it back into the routine but definitely back to reading more blogs and making a list of posts to write
ReplyDeleteThanks Steven! I may be trying out one of these 30 days of blogging challenges in the new year :)
ReplyDeleteI really like this idea of a blogging meetup or trip. Let's roll with this.
ReplyDeleteYes, I still love it here in Munich and thanks Bev, bu don't worry, it was a long time ago :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Holly! Clearly taking me some time but I am blaming it on my move, which is finally almost wrapped up :)
ReplyDeleteYeah it's like if you put it off one week, why not putting it off one more. Sigh, I always love it when I actually sit down to write but until I sit down the effort seems so much
ReplyDeleteThank you, Emily! Still not over it :-|
ReplyDeleteAnd you, too Niken!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
ReplyDeleteYeah girl just read your recent post - insanity! Sometimes just gotta go with what life throws at you
ReplyDeleteThanks Daddio!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Danielle! Your encouragement seriously means the world :) It's not worth writing if no one is reading it so thank you!
